How about the comparison between marriage then and marriage now. Marriage then was considered a liberating affair. A woman with no means who was unmarried had no hope of a future. She could not hold a respectable job, own property, or anything. She could be liberated through marriage.

Marriage now is considered the opposite. Why would a woman marry when she can have all these things and more without it. Marriage might even hinder a woman's career aspirations especially if she has children.

(I believe int he sanctity of marriage and families, this is just a suggestion for a topic, playing devil's advocate here.)
