they helped me to read + got me into writing. I loved them because they were funny and optimistic even when dealing with dark topics.

They really brought about the longing for me to write my own stories about things that are closely related to magic. The books have really made me want to read even more than I did before I read those books (if that could be considered possible lol) and my urging to write is just as constant and continuous. Love those books, they really made me branch off from regular reading.

Well, I was read them by my parents before bed when I was really young - then I read them myself as my first chapter book.

    That's about it.
I credit it with teaching me to read and forming steady relationships with my family.
    They were good; cliched, though.

They didn't really. I read them when they first came out. I was a lot younger. I liked them back then. They were pretty good.

Then the movies started coming out and people started getting obsessed, and I didn't want to join the fad.

I think they're well written and deserve a lot of the fame they get, but it seems like the series gone on for way too long (what is this, like book 12?) and it would have been more of a classic children's book if the author just stopped at like 3 or 4.

Also, the some of the fans are very irritating. I understand liking a book. I even understand being obsessed with it, but you also need to live your own life. You aren't REALLY hermonie, you know what I mean?

Well, I started reading them at a young age, about 6 years old. When I got older, I became a bit of a rebel. I was smart, but I didn't do any of my homework, I got into trouble, and had absolutely no friends and no future. Then one day I was bored and decided to pick up the Harry Potter series again and read it. I remembered how amazingly well it was written, and I could easily relate to lots of the characters, especially Harry. I started joining online Harry Potter fan clubs, decorating my room with movie posters, everything! I had really found a passion, and I realized that I didn't like who I was. I decided to change. I got my grades up, I started talking to my family again, I found tons of friends, and I have never gotten into any type of trouble since then! I think what made me change was the fact that I wanted to be more like Harry Potter. He was brave, kind, intelligent, selfless, everything! I felt really ashamed after reading the books because I knew I was a bit like Malfoy, and Harry greatly disliked him, so I wanted to be a better person. That's my life story! And I know I will always be a Harry Potter fan, because it changed my life forever! It's funny how just a book could turn my life completely around! It surprises me every day!
