What are conceptual concerns in literature?

Hi there

my essay question on Jane Austen's MANSFIELD PARK asks me to discuss its 'conceptual concerns' HELP!!

is this the concerns of the time? e.g. industrialisation etc??
any help greatly appreciated

Concept in this context probably best translates as themes or ideas that Austen is exploring in the relationship between the characters - the point of the story as it were. It is more likely to be the distinctions between Fanny and the family. The prevailing social climate is relevant and is part of what Austen is looking at so these should be considered. If you are confused by the question you should not be afraid to seek clarification from your teacher.
