What song is well written lyrically/poetically?

Question

OK - so, in English, I have to find a song that is well written. I'm searching for something with layers... let's say, on paper it can read like a poem, but is taken to a different level when music is added. If it has a music video, that may even create more meaning to it. I was thinking of a song like Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen, but that's already taken. Since I'm comparing the lyrics to a simple poem, I really need something substantial.

Please bear in mind that since I'll be playing the song in front of the class, I won't be caught dead playing a Madonna song. I'm looking for something more like Mad World or Here Without You.
