Hello, I need some advice on my career options please.
I am a recent graduate of a medical assisting program and am currently enrolled in a medical transcription program which I will complete in December, then start a new program for medical billing and coding in January.
I have my certification exams scheduled for June of 2010, but am having trouble balancing all of these careers. I love each of these fields, but have trouble scheduling them to work together. I will have my CMA, CPC, and CMT by June of 2010, but need to know the hours for each of these professions. I can work independently at home as a medical transcriptionist, but need to know about the medical assisting and medical billing and coding.
How can I work full-time as a medical assistant while also working full-time as a medical biller and coder? Are there second-shift options available for medical billing and coding? I really love working in a physician's office as a medical assistant during the day, but need an additional income provided through medical billing and coding. If need be, I will work full-time as a medical biller and coder during the day and a medical assistant at night in a hospital or clinic, but I'm not sure how to balance everything. Please provide me with some insight and it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!! =)
I guess mostly what I'm asking is, "Is working second-shift as a medical biller and coder likely since I will be working as a medical assistant during the day?" and also, "If second-shift medical billing and coding isn't an option, how can I land a second-shift medical assisting job in a hospital or clinic with entry-level experience?"
