What should I do if my toffee isn't hardening properly?

Should I put it back in the pan and reheat it to a higher temperature and let it cool or put it in the freezer or something?

you can try reheating it. Be sure to be using a candy thermometer, you are probably looking for between 245 and 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Freezing will make it go wet and slimy

Heating it more than once will a bit destroy its normal substance. You must always make it best the first time.

Freezing it will just be an absolute disaster.

If you've followed the recipe correctly, you can try reheating it again, but chances are it won't work. Usually once something like toffee has started to cool, heating it up again just burns whatever candy is on the bottom.

If you have time to make more, though, trying will never hurt!
