I am buliding a model ship, 1/350 scale cutty sark.it has white plastic sails, i want to "antique" how?

my thought was to dilute a burnt siena and paint them, then wipe it off.
but plastic is reletivly smooth. it is a Kit by "Academy" hobby model kits.

Dilute brown paint in thinner and gently blot the sail edges with a Q-tip ONLY, for realism and that "weathered" look.

Ok, This is my opinion, but I think the sails you get in the kits are not the greatest. If I were you I would take small pieces of material, like even toilet paper and have the sails furled. (That is when the sails are put away, or rolled up when not in use.) You can see photos of ships in port like this. Just an idea. Roll material up, middle is bigger, edges smaller and all are tied with small thread. Airbrush them a lighter tan or dirty off white.
