Is there a way to type "Ø" on an American keyboard on a Windows computer?

Yes.

For uppercase (Ø), hold the alt key down and type 0216 on the number pad, then release the alt key.

For lowercase (ø), hold alt and hit 0248 on the number pad.

I know that you can type "Ø" on Microsoft Word by doing CTRL + / and then SHIFT O.
