Compare and contrast The Handmaid's Tale and V for Vendetta?
Can anyone give a few points on how Margaret Atwood's book, The Handmaid's Tale, and the movie, V for Vendetta are similar and different? Thanks!

One thing that you could look at is how the world had changed into societies that were completely under the control of, and manipulated by, their government. The main characters of each had been oppressed and used by this government. Because they remembered their past, they were able to realize how the societies had changed and how the people had succumbed their own free will and free choice to participate in society. Also, as they were moving outside of the government by using their mind, they were able to see and do things that an average person would not do, simply because the average person would have no compelling reason to act. For these main characters, the compelling reason to act would be because they were not mindless and they could be an influence on others.
