Household birds commonly eat human diarrhea because it contains essential nutrients (particularly chloride ions) vital to their diets that their human owners often deprive them of. Usually, human stool consists completely of unnecessary waste that the body cannot use, but in the case of diarrhea, the body did not fully absorb all of the nutrients, and a lot of it ended up in the waste.

If you are trying to feed this to your parakeet, make sure that the diarrhea is, in fact, diarrhea, and not solidified waste. The problem in most cases is the owner trying to feed the bird solid stool, which they will not take. Most of the nutrients remain in the liquid part of the diarrhea. However, this is rather difficult to feed to your bird, and your parakeet is less likely to take to pure liquid. It's best to find a good balance between solid diarrhea and liquid diarrhea, to a point where the bird will take to it without much difficulty. Perhaps change your eating habits to manipulate the texture of your waste until you get a good mix. If necessary, you may have to mix the solid and liquid waste together after it is expelled.

Despite this, some birds still do not take to the diarrhea. In this case, they may be picky eaters. In this case, I recommend that you keep a routine, and familiarize your bird with the scent and taste of your diarrhea by mixing small portions of it with his regular food source. When he begins accepting the small mixed portions, you may expect that he will begin to accept larger portions of diarrhea and ultimately, solely the diarrhea.
