Covens and Wiccans in my story? Or no Covens and Wiccans in my story?

I`m writing one other story at the moment. But, this one is about a girl from Kenova, West Virginia. She only has one friend because she doesn`t fit into any of the cliques. She refers to herself as a "Lone Wolf". One night of her sophomore year she throws a message in a bottle into the Ohio River like she and her friend Jessica did as a kids. A Romanian boy later finds it and writes her back. They form a bond through their letters. But, I don`t want a regular Romance or Teen Romance. Like my main girl I`m a lover of the paranormal. I was thinking of making the guy a part of a powerful and feared coven and the girl a Wiccan. But, I want dark forces to endanger the girls life. How can I add to this idea? What should I do

Additional Details

I know Wicca is a religion. I plan to research it when I find the time.

For me personly I would cut it out I think it would offend both Wiccans and Christians.
