Are there any books banned in the United States?

I was just on a website that had a list of books that were banned in the US..(i think the site was full of it bc there was a Maya Angelou book as well as Aldus Huxlely)
WIth freedom of speech and freedom of press that we have, are books even allowed to be banned?

That list of books is a list of books that have been banned in the past or are still currently banned in certain high school libraries across the country. No books can be banned from circulation in the United States. However, in schools, school boards have the right to ban books if they feel they have a detrimental effect to the well-being of students. For example, The Anarchist's Cookbook is banned in many high school libraries because of Columbine.

I doubt it. The laws in the United States aren't as strict as other countries such as England (where they banned A Clockwork Orange.)

Books that are banned in the US are banned by an organization within the US, not by the American government. The organizations are usually school boards.

I've only ever heard of books being banned in school libraries. i mean, if you can go to the bookstore and pick up Hitler's autobiography, then you can pretty much get any book in the US
