i guess this quote can be interpreted in many different ways as most things go. i look at it like this:
to experience life to its fullest you must always live on the edge and try things first hand. the idea of "thinking outside the box"

    i agree with YOYO, wht i could add is that staying in the middle- with lots of people surrounding you and "blocking you view" can sometimes be abd for you and you sometimes need to get on "the edge" and isolate yourself, think for yourself to experience more and get more out of life
