If god made the univers in 6000 years...?

y is it that light from stars are MILLIONS of light years away from a it's source, the star/stars?
(a light year is how far light goes in a year).
and also know that light is not matter- although it creates energy forms-, so it cannot be created in any way or form with-out it's source.

also know that light is not matter, so it cannot be created in any way or form with-out it's source.

if god did even make light, ect- which he called day in the bible, which is SO dumb, bcuz day/night is the revolving of the earth basicly- that it's still millions of years away from where it comes.

and yeah, i read the bible, i being serious, im not lying and i cannot prove to u i am not, u just hav to bear with me here.

infact, dont say that the bible never says the world is not 6000 years old. i bet if u google it now, it will immedeatly say it does at the top of the list.

If you believe in God then you should not have a problem with how He decided to present the universe. Bible scholars have determined for themselves that the universe is only 6000 years old, that does not make it so. The bible book of Genesis explains it all perfectly, I just fail to understand it, so I am quite willing to wait for God's explanation. My education is at odds with my knowledge of the bible, that hasn't lessened my belief. The bible does say I am promised the knowledge when the time comes.
If you do not believe in God then I doubt you are trying to learn anything with your question. Allowing that God can do anything requires you believe He exists first.

The Bible does not say that the earth is 6000 years old.

    [quote]
Where did that myth that the earth is 6000 years old get started?

An Irishman by the name of James Ussher, an Archbishop of the Anglican church during the early 17th century, started the rumor. His miscalculations placed the birth of the universe at 4004 BC. His chronology was included into the marginal footnotes of the Authorized Version of the Bible of that century, and was picked up in the Douay Bible in the 20th century. The miscalculation is still propagating.

I grew up with a mom who is a "young-earth" Christian, but her group must be rebellious because they add on an additional 4,000 years, making the earth a whopping 10,000 years old.

Either way, 6k, 10k, the idea is the same: They consider the Bible as literal: God literally created the earth in 6 days. Some Christians believe that the days that are referred to in the Bible could reference millions of years because Moses and whoever else wrote down "God's word" couldn't comprehend such a vast expanse of time. These Christians will at least acknowledge at least some level of evolution, or that God made evolution happen, clinging to the believe that he still 'created' everything.

So, back to the young-earth: Besides being literal about the 6 days, to come to their conclusion, they have gone backwards in the Bible, looking at the lineage of Jesus all the way back to Adam and Eve. Then they more or less total the ages of the dead guys (some of course had to be estimate, and of course Methuselah was like 850 years old or something - not sure how they decided on what an average life-span was. . .), and then add the 2000 years since Jesus.

Basically, it all rests on whether the first chapter in Genesis is to be taken literally or not, and this throws into question so many other issues! If you take the 6 day thing literally, shouldn't you have to take every single in the Bible literally as well, including Revelations, with the dragons and horsemen, and all? My mom says no, that some parts of the Bible were meant to be figurative, but not others, and through study, that's how they figure out which is which.

I don't subscribe to any of these beliefs, but growing up around it gave me a good insight. As a side note - these young-earth Christians have their own set of scientists and have done tests to 'prove' that the earth is only 6,000 years old. Sounds like a biased lab to me.

Finally, your question about the light from the stars is justified by young earth Christians with this well known mantra, which can't be argued with because this is always the 'answer' : "That's how God made it. He's all powerful and so he could immediately create a universe that appeared to be billions of years old." My question is, why would he do that? Unless he purposely wanted to trick us and tempt us into believing in evolution, why would he make something that refutes his existence? So many plot holes I could keep going, but at least know you know their reasoning.

Edit: I remembered something that my mom's church once told me when I asked about dinosaurs and how we could have fossils if they had only a couple days in which to live out their lives before the humans were created (Adam and Eve of course). I got the response that dinosaurs, and any other extinct creature actually lived side-by-side with humans, and that most likely they were wiped out in the flood, or from over-hunting. Right. One other answer I got from a different group was that God planted the fossils in the ground, so there never really were any living dinosaurs. I'm pretty sure I stared dumbfounded at them, paralyzed by my utter shock, for a solid minute before I could pick up my jaw off the floor and walk away.
