Why is Obama such a socialist?

Can somebody please explain to me why the US president, my president, has such socialistic tendencies. I feel he's going to change our country into something reminiscent of communist China. I just can't seem to find out why I feel this way. Fox only confirms my beliefs when they interpret his policies for me, but I still can't seem to make the connections myself.

I feel everyone should fear their leaders in some way. I'm just afraid that their will be a serious upheaval to how this country operates and that it will be for the worst. I think it's a fact that he's hiding something from us, like most leaders have in the past. I'm simply worried that it's something that will ruin my great country.

Well, your first problem is believing anything you see on Fox news. They will lie and twist anything for ratings. And ill bet you don't know a damn thing about communist china, socialism, or even our own founding principles. Americans need to stop listening to the far right when they use scary words like "socialism, death squads, government run insurance bureaucracy" and start to think for themselves. Fox News is owned by a corporation, which naturally means they are in the profit making business. They prey on stupid, gullible, and ill informed people to get as much viewers as they possibly can. I love how NOBODY on the right called Bush a liar, socialist of communist when he tapped your phone lines, checked your library records, and detained Americans without cause of justification. Not to mention, he lied to us with Iraq, Bin Laden and torture. If you want to compare any president in American history to Hitler, Mao, Stalin, or Lenin, you should think of Bush. His policies were far closer to a communist state than any of President Obama's policies. I'm sick and tired of people believing everything they hear on the radio, internet and TV and then voicing their opinions on it. The fact is, if the Republicans love America as much as they say they do, they should be ashamed that they are advocating calling the President of the United States a socialist and comparing him to a maniac that killed over 11 million people. We should be coming together at this time, not advocating some people rise up and take back their government. If you disagree with your congressman or president, when it comes time to vote, VOTE. Thats how a democracy works. You don't spark a civil war to prove a ******* point.

This is unbelievably sad since I'm reading this in Canada.
Your democrats (i.e. Obama) are equivalent to our conservatives in Canada. You haven't even seen anything CLOSE to socialism in the United States.

Your first mistake is watching FOX news. Everyone outside the United States (trust me on this), knows that FOX news and people like Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly likes to lie. It's sad that so many Americans are blinded by the load of junk FOX news feeds you.

A public option for healthcare in the United States will probably be one of the best things that will ever happen to your country and yet so much of the population tries to blow it.

In a sense, what I'm saying is Americans do NOT deserve a leader as great as Obama. Look at Bill Clinton - he did wonders for your country.

im not crazy about him , but i must say i think affordable health care
for all is a good concept.
people should not be denied treatment because they do not have money
or sufficient insurance or are unemployed.
so whilst he has not done a great service for the usa in the world arena,
this plan of his does have merit.

The best answer to your question is environment. He was indoctrinated by a preacher who lambasted our capitalist system for a period of two decades. We were warned about his associations during the campaign, and they tried to tell us that his associations didn't have any effect on him. His entire agenda is rooted in Marxist ideology. All of the radical left wing groups have foundations in this ideology. There are many different manifestations of this kind of government, but they all are rooted in the same evil foundation.

Let's see, he has taken over the banking industry, the energy industry, the auto industry and now the healthcare industy...what connection is so difficult to make?
