Looking for melancholy music?

I'm interested in finding the most depressing, sad, beautiful and melancholic music that exists, or any combination of the above.

relevant music I am interested in: selected list of artists and selected few songs, i have not listed everything.

radiohead (exit music, pyramid song)
bjork (unravel, desired constellation)
tool (third eye)
nick cave (stranger than kindness)
leonard cohen (avalanche)
swans (miracle of love, the sound)
clann zu (one bedroom apartment)
sol seppy (enter one)
cat power (metal heart - particularly the jukebox version)
pj harvey (shame)
the knife (forest families)
a perfect circle (brena)
joy division (atmosphere, 24 hours)
marilyn manson (speed of pain, coma white)
nine inch nails (eraser, hurt)
johnny cash (hurt)
alice in chains (down in a hole, nutshell)
beck (sea change album)

music not interested in: as above have not listed everything, this would take forever.

korn
evanescence
imogen heap and frou frou
smashing pumpkins
paparoach
metallica
red hot chili peppers
guns and roses
my chemical romance
the used
mostly anything remotely mainstream, top 40 etc...

I love sad songs, I love depressing music, I love beautiful music, a specific song does not necessarily have to be sad and beautiful, so if you think you have something to share with me please do, it will be greatly appreciated, thank you for your time.

Bright Eyes is everything you've been looking for. So is Page France, but Bright Eyes is more intense. Especially listen to the songs:
Road to Joy
The Calendar Hung Itself
No One Would Riot for Less
It's Cool, We Can Still Be Friends
Amy in the White Coat
Haligh, Haligh, a lie, Haligh
I've Been Eating (for you)
Happy Birthday to Me (feb. 15)
Waste of Paint
Perfect Sonnet
No Lies, Just Love
Easy, Lucky, Free
Don't Know When but a Day is Gonna Come

& many more.
I love Bright Eyes!
also, this particular song:
I can Feel Your Pain by Manchester Orchestra
and:
Bliss Tearing Eyes by Dead Poetic
Flightless Bird, American Mouth by Iron and Wine
Hate Me by Blue October (not my favorite)
The Spine Song by Cake Bake Betty
Emily by From First to Last
8 Full Hours of Sleep by Against Me
Boats and Birds by Gregory and the Hawk
Starry Configurations by Jets to Brazil
Working Class Hero by Kohn Lennon
I Lived on the Moon by Kwoon
Lightning Crashes by Live
Roses by Meg & Dia
Fashionably Uninvited by Mellowdrone
Burning Benches by Morning Runner
Music for a Nurse by Oceansize
Fifty Fourteeners by The Secret Life of Sofia
If by The Red Hot Chili Peppers
Asleep by The Smiths
Lost in Autumn by The Sea and Cake

"Angel" - "Sarah McLachlan"? meh iuno?
    "Escape the Fate" any good?
"Linkin Park"? (you'd class them as being mainstream I'm guessing)
    "Sick Cycke Carousel" - "Lifehouse"
    "Refugee" - "Tribal Ink"
"Diary of Jane" - "Breaking Benjamin"
    "Nobody's Home" - "Avril Lavinge"
I Hate Everything About You" - "Three Days Grace"
Meh? Anyways hope that does something for, probably despair at my taste in music, at best! :P

i agree with the bright eyes girl that that is a sweet band. however, you seem to have more of an industrial taste. i think you should take a visit to New Wave country. the cure and the smiths in particular. when i think of melancholy music the cure is my first thought for sure.
