Halloween party theme - something original and fresh?

Question

We are having a Halloween party, and looking from some cool theme.
We hired a party specialist, and she's going to arrange whole house decorations, actors, catering etc,which brings unlimited possibilities. However everything she suggested seems so trite - vampires, ghosts, heaven,hell,bloody banquet...Does it all have to be scary?? What would be still fun to play and decorate, without skeletons, coffins and the rest?

pick a letter of the alphabet (i.e. "m")

everyones cosutmes should begin with that letter.

messiah or macgyver for example.

Think rock and roll/Hollywood for your decorations. Red carpet, black lights, disco balls, those cardboard cutouts of everyone from Elvis to Micheal Jackson...

This theme lends itself to a great dance floor and even karaoke!

haha I have an awesome idea... have one of your guy friends dress like micheal myers but don't tell your friends. I will be like a movie. They come in the house with the lights on, by the middle of your party the lights suddenly go out. you go check the light box and scream. You don't return. all of your friends are worried. and then HE APPEARS! ahhhhhhhh

This year my Halloween party / Anniversary party theme is Mad Hatter's Tea Party. Last year we did Pirates. The year before it was animals (everyone wore animal costumes). Next year we are doing Vikings.

Not wanting anything scary or related to death kind of limits your halloween options, as that is what halloween is about. You're limited to just generic halloween, with everyone dressing up differently in generic costumes.

well u have to have that stuff at halloween. thats just my opinion though. you can make ur house look like a witches house, with a cauldron and potions and wierd ingredients but be a good witch i guess.
