Constructing a rhythmic & rhyming poem?

I have to write a poem for class & it has to rhyme. Yet i can't find good words to describe the summary of the book True Believer by Virginia Euwer Wolf.

Summary by Book Browse:When LaVaughn was little, the obstacles in her life didn't seem so bad. If she had a fight with Myrtle or Annie, it would never last long. If she was mad at her mother, they made up by bedtime. School was simple. Boys were buddies. Everything made sense.

But LaVaughn is fifteen and the obstacles aren't going away anymore. Big questions separate her from her friends. Her mother is distracted by a new man. School could slip away from her so easily. And the boy who's a miracle in her life acts just as if he's in love with her. Only he's not in love with her.

this is a poem about a girl named LaVaughn
who thought she had it ALL
good grades, good LIFE, no STRIFE
year round, winter spring summer to FALL

If LaVaughn had any petty arguments with Myrtle and Annie,
those didn't last didn't last LONG
Issues with her mom, by dinner time would be GONE
friends AGAIN, forever to the END
and family sticks TOGETHER through all stormy WEATHERS
that's what her story started Out About

but then WHAM, the walls of obstacles aren't falling anymore
and those bumps in her road suddenly become huge humps
tripping her up making her fall thump thump thump?

holler at that if you feel it in your soul

it was fun, but then by the end of my rhyming schematics I got tired so it wasn't as hype as the begining...hahah. You didn't give me much details to work with either!
