Can you order things online with a prepaid Visa Debit Card? The kind you buy at Wal-Mart?

I need to purchase tickets to a concert in November. All my family members with real debits and credits don't want to order them for me even after I offered to give them the money BEFORE they would order. Anyways, I was told by my aunt to purchase a Visa Debit pre-paid card at Wal-Mart. She said that it's $3 to purchase the card, and you just put on the card what you wanna use. Like if the tickets came out to like $100 to put like $125 on it, so on and so forth. I've ordered tickets before and it asks for the name on the card. If I were to use one of the Prepaid Debits, what would I put in that slot? My name? Can you order stuff online with one of those prepaid Visa Debits?

Using Visa or American Express Gift Cards to Shop Online

question.jpgOne of the most asked gift card questions, particularly on Yahoo Answers is whether you can use a Visa or any other bank issued gift card (American Express, Discover, or MasterCard) to shop online. The answer is yes.

However, there are additional steps you have to take to prevent your card from being rejected by the merchant. The problem with using Visa (or any other bank issued) gift card online is that there is no verifiable name and address associated with the card. When buying things online, most merchants want your name and billing address to match the name and address you have on file with your card (credit, debit, or bank gift card) issuer.

Therefore, before you use your Visa or other bank issued gift card, call the merchant/financial institution that issued the card or go to their website and add your name and address to the card. This will ensure that when you use the card online, the name and address you provide to the merchant for billing will match the name and address on file for the card. Once you have registered your card, you can use it online just like you would use a regular credit card.

If your information (name and address) has changed since you registered your Visa gift card, call the card issuer or go online and update your information before you use the card online.

yes, definitely. but it has to be in your name because you always have to use those as credit instead of debit since you have no pin number so you would have to provide ID showing its your card (only if you're buying stuff in person...not online duh). anything with the logo VISA on it has the ability to be used as a regular credit card

I think when you go there the card that they give you is a temporary one until they send you one with your name on it, but I imagine that it would be just fine if you put your name in you are the one who has to cancel it.

A prepaid debit card is accepted anywhere a regular debit card is accepted.
