Simple. Ensure top is on tight. Then grasp the bottle in one hand and then swing in windmill arm motion a few times. Stop. Open top and it will pour out perfectly.

Hold the bottle horizontally and hit the heel of your other hand with it a few times - the ketchup will release easily. Ketchup has a natural surface tension seal that is not easily broken upside down, turning it sideways enlarges the potential space so that it can flow.
i hate when i expect it will go out smoothly and all that comes out is nasty tomato juice. lol

You can buy ketchup which stores upside down. All you have to do is open the top and squeeze, it's so much easier nowadays.

You have to shake the bottle like a baby.
Lone Wolf (above) is mostly right. The most effective spot to use the heel of your hand at the start of the neck from the underside.

If this is a glass bottle, look for the 57 etched into it; hold the bottle angled down onto your plate (but not directly upside down). Smack the 57 a few times and the ketchup should come right out. I have worked in restaurants for years. Your BA is wrong.

Well, we americans think catsup is a sauce or condiment. It is rather disgusting as it goes. You are pretty much useless if you put it on your hot dogs(yechhh). Obviously you don't like hot dogs, and have absolutely no taste for sausage. The only thing catsup is for is to top meatloaf, ot fries.
The best way of getting ketchup to flow smoothly is by having it in the pouring angle and insert a butter knife on the top part to pierce the air pocket, once done it will come out smoothly.

I learned this from a teenage camper when I was counseling. Getting catsup out is a matter of physics. "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction." Hit up on the catsup bottle. The opposite action is the catsup coming out. It works

This simple, some people might find vulgar because they have dirty minds. Make an ok sigh w/ your life hand, slide the open end first into the ok sign.Tip at a 45 degree angle above plate. Use other hand to pump the bottle against ok sign. Care full 2nd or 3rd pump comes out fast.
It is simple physics - hold the bottle at a 45-degree angle and gently tap the neck. The object is to get an air bubble going up the neck and into the bottom of the bottle, which is now at the top. The air will "force" the ketchup out fairly easily. It works better on room temperature bottles.
All you have to do is tilt it to the angle you pour it out at and tap the neck of the bottle gently on your pointer finger and it will come pouring out! My dad has had a cafe for 56 yrs, this is a tried and true technique~

I worked in cracker barrel restaurants over 7 years we used the glass heinz bottles it was easy to 'marry' empty 1 half full bottle into another half full bottle. to get the ketchup flowing hit the glass 57's on the side works every time!

I'm not sure if anyone has ever heard this story. Take a look at the glass bottle of Heinz. There is a pickle on the bottle. Hold the bottle at a 45 degree angle with your thumb on the pickle. The angle that you hold it at will help draw the air in and the ketchup out.

Stick your french fry in it. Works everytime. Just don't bite it first. That would be gross... unless it's your own ketchup. If you do the windmill motion, don't forget to hold it tight. I didn't hold it tight. I like ketchup.

Ummm just go to the store and buy another bottle of it. its what $3 a bottle? if its like the begining of the month use your welfare check or foodstamps.. sheesh.. is it worth that much effort to get every drop out of the bottle when a simple $3 will cure the problem?

My husband uses the windmill tactic with new ketchup, mustard that just has a little left in it, basically anything in a pour or squeeze bottle that you need.
first you need a chainsaw , make sure you wear: eye ,ear, hand,& leg protection. then get two (2) good friends, wearing the same & holding both ends of the (plastic) cheepest you can find ketchup, firmly on the ground. now you are ready, start the chainsaw, ok bang It around, kick It ( oh check gas)

The windmill only workes when playing the guitar, not pouring ketchup.
Point the bottle downward to your food and swing it horizontally. Don't swing it too hard nor too fast or you'll empty the whole bottle. Simple as that. So how much ketchup do you want to have on your fries?
The windmill swing, or as we call it the pitcher's wind up, works like a charm. We have been using it for years. It works especially well to get the last little bit out of the bottom of the bottle.
There is a messy way to do this. Leave it somewhere dry for some years, then when you need it , take it out and open it (the ketchup would have fermented by then, and a build up of gas is accumulated inside the bottle).The ketchup would explode from the bottle. It would leave a streak the ceiling.

First of all, we are talking about the ketchup bottle, right? If so, and you are using Heinz bottle, there is a 57 on the bottle at the middle part of the bottle. Using the knuckle part of your thumb, slightly tap the 57 and the ketchup will run down the bottle WITHOUT using utensils. It works!
mudbug's method is especially useful when you only have a small amount left in bottom of bottle. When you swing the bottle, the centrifugal force pushes the ketchup to the far end of the bottle (away from the end you are holding), so it's important to hold the bottom of the bottle, not the neck.

ok if you have one of the old fashioned ketchup bottles(the glass ones usually used in restaurants) then there will be a 57 on the side of the bottle, slightly raised up, hit that 57 with the palm of your hand and it works 100% of the time. store plactic bottles upside down :)

steal all the little packets from the local 7-11 and don't worry about buying the bottled variety
My mom did the windmill trick when we were kids all the time until she didn't realize the top was on tight.... we had a perfect ketchup stain that cut our kitchen in half!! It was so funny!!! The ceiling the floor the walls all in a perfectly straight line... other than where it hit the windows!!
If you turn the bottle over with the cap facing down unscrew the top and tap with the heel of your palm on the "57" on the bottom of the bottle the ketchup will release. Confirmed!! 16 years in the restaurant bizzz.

Actually the best way to get the ketchup or katsup out of the bottle is to just stick a knife in it while upside down and viola' it will pour right out. No spinning or beating necessary.

nah, put the bottle in hot water for a while and the air in it will expand. that way, the bottle will be easy to open.

keep the top clean
make sure the lid is on securely, turn the bottle upside down and bang it on a table or worktop 2 or 3 times, squeeze (if its a squeezy bottle) or tap it on the side of the bottle, dont tap the bottom of the bottle cuz u will get a mass of ketchup come out!

you just flip the bottle upside down, and in one swift motion, as if hitting the bottle against a table, just swing it. works EVERY time.
close the lid tight! then turn the bottle upside down that the bottom of the bottle is facing you. and hit the bottom part of the bottle like 2 times..

It's usually upside down in my fridge anyway and then I shake it up and down and it flows perfect =). - Add just a little water occasionally if cleaning out the neck or nozzle doesn't work. There can be a build up and the sauce tends to thicken due to the fact most people will not gice the container a good shake up before use. They will open the bottle or container screw stop to pour or squeeze.
