In District 9, do you think Christopher Johnson was actually a human before?

(KINDA SPOILER)
-In the movie, he demonstrates behavior that resembles being human. Such as knowing the term "eviction" when the other Aliens did not, and showing compassion for his son. There are other examples, but I think it's pretty possible that he was human before.

SPOILERS:
He had the command pod hidden under his shack. He was either THE leader of the Prawns, or one of them. He was more technical-oriented than the run-of-the-mill workers, who were not technically-minded.

Hmmm, I would say no, but that's something to think about.
Good observations. Wouldn't have thought of it.

No. How could he have been? This isn't transformers or The Terminator. Notice the theme. Now, The Bicentennial Man does have the reverse--machine becomes man.

I don't think so but that is an interesting thought. It was mentioned in the documentary part of the film that there didn't seem to be any leadership among the aliens, that the sickness may have killed them. Perhaps there were still some leaders hiding within the alien population...maybe Christoper and the other alien who seemed to be his partner looking for the black liquid were two of those leaders. There were a lot of interesting things with that film so I guess anything could be possible.

I would have to say no, because if he was, then I think the movie would have gone into more detail about that, but Christopher Johnson was definitely a very humane alien, compared to most (pretty much all) aliens AND humans.

Well Christopher Johnson is not the run of the mill alien, he is smart, want the best for his future, and is tech smart. I think the movie would have gone in another direction if he was a human. But i didn't think about that before. He did say "the only thing that could cause this..." so he might have saw this before from his friend.

No... He new to much about there home world, about there technology, how to get on the ship and so on...

He was just one of the last few intelligent ''Prawns''' to survive...

There had to be some of them Intelligent enough to create the weapon's that they had... its just the few that survived lacked such ''brain power''

Im thinking that the majority of 'prawns' that survived and came to earth were what you would call the 'worker bees' this would explain there lack in intelligence, not that they weren't intelligent they just lacked some compared to there higher ups...?

He wasn't the only social or emotional one there... Christopher Johnson had a friend at the start, who got shot. friendship works both-ways... ''Prawns'' also live in colony groups, so one would assume for this they would want and need the contact with others of there species... etc

interesting point, but i would say he's just a special one. I think he might have been the leader among all those 2 million aliens, so that's why he demonstrates compassion and higher intelligence

How would he know of the medical equipment of the homeworld and know how to pilot the ship?
