How bad is it to accidentally inhale cigarette smoke into lungs?

Question

This afternoon, I was smoking a cigarette, and while I had the smoke in my mouth, I unintentionally inhaled it into my lungs. I thought it was no big deal, but now it has been 9 hours, and my throat/lungs are really bothering me. Do you think this will last long, or go away? For all you cigarette haters, I decided to quit, so cool it. Thanks!

Drink plenty of water. and breathe deep for 5 - 10 min.

The whole point of smoking a cigarette is to inhale it into your lungs........

lol. i dont understand you. You were a smoker before, but had never inhaled the smoke, just kept it in your mouth? Thats not smoking at all, smoking is where you inhale the smoke and exhale it. I think today was the first time you ever actually inhaled a cigarrette smoking correctly. So yes, it will go away. Its all the crappy crap inside the cigs that is reacting with your bodys defense system. You've basically poisoned yourself and your body is trying to fix you up.

Stop smoking before you get cancer and die like half my family. If you think that hurts, imagine what it will feel like when you're on oxygen and taking 80mg oxycontin because its spread to your bones. Don't **** your life up.
