Yes!

But, I actually got into them separately. They do go good together though. My brother introduced me to Tom Waits, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers introduced me to Bukowski. (through their song "Mellowship Slinky in B Major", which has a line that goes like "I'm on the porch 'cause I lost my house key, pick up my book I read Bukowski")

My top 5 favorite Waits albums:
1 Small Change
2 Rain Dogs
3 Mule Variations
4 Heartattack and Vine
5 Foreign Affairs
(wow, that was really hard, honestly I love them all)

I've only read two Bukowski novels, Post Office and Ham on Rye. Of those two, I liked Ham on Rye better. I often cite that book as both the funniest and saddest book I've ever read.

I have a few of his books of poetry too, and these are my top 5 favorite Bukowski poems:
1 Bluebird
2 Roll the Dice
3 2347 Duane

Asker's Comment:
I found out about Bukowski the same way. I have found that the U2 song These Days Run Away Like Wild Horses Over the Hills, is named after a Bukowski poem.

My favorite is Ham On Rye. Factotum and Women are other favorites.
