I really loved Dr. Seuss. When i got a bit older I liked Shel Silverstein.

I loved Dick King Smiths 'Sophie' books and the Famous Five by Enid Blyton. :)

Oh, my Mum would read me Noddy books when I was about 4. :P

As a child I was reading fairy tales. Abridged versions of the Brothers Grimm works, Hans Christian Andersen, Charles Perrault, la Comtesse de Segur (she wrote tales for children as well as full length books for adults), and Louisa May Alcott. I think my absolute favorite was Louisa May Alcott. No Dr. Seuss for me, as I read in Spanish only at the time (Spanish is my first language) and his work was not widely available in that language in the 60s.
