That writers need to write what they see to be true, and what they can see around them, whereas painters need to paint not just what they see, as that is just replication of something that's already there, but to interpret something by listening to how the world views it.

i understand where you are coming from; however sometimes a writer (poet) decides to write what he or she feels. not necessarily what they see. that being said, i couldn't have done it better(:
