Anything about Salinger is good, so I'll pick Franny and Zooey. At that age I also liked pretty much Krakauer's Into the wild...well, Cold Mountain and Tom Sawyer are classics...and finally, maybe for colored girls who have considered suicide.

I have never read any of those, so I don't know. Sorry I wasn't any help but Tom Sawyer is a classic so I would pick that one.

On The Road by Jack Kerouac is definitely one of my favorite books, and I would recommend it to anyone. I also enjoy the way that J.D. Salinger writes, so anything by him is great. Good luck!

Every woman I have ever talked to that enjoys reading seems to love Angela's Ashes. I have never read it myself, but I have only heard great things about it.
