Velutha is the God of Small things. He is the god of Loss.

Roy has written it in her book, that when there is no future for you, you stick to the small things. The big t hings keep on lurking inside you, but they are never brought out. They are never expressed. The small things, the petty and the trivial matters, are all that you deal with. That is what Velutha and Ammu did. They were in love, but never expressed it. The made love on beaches at night, but never said a word to each other regarding anything. The Dance of Destiny.

I did not get the answer fully.... And I can't understand how Velutha was a god-how human can be a god here...
Oh! God here does not mean in the sense of Almighty. God here simply stands for someone who has control, someone who has some power - a sort of Lord. Velutha could only control small things, he could only manage the little things - so he was the Lord of Small Things. The god of petty things.
