Would Rap guys be influenced by other forms of music?

Question

I hear some rap that I feel is a waste of time and others are very clever, notably with their lyrics, which is their "bread and butter" tool.

So would they draw influence from clever lyrics of other bands? The Arctic Monkeys are a fantastic band for lyrics. Nick Cave is another. The Beatles, the list goes on.

yeah when you see the rap music videos theres alot of Fts with people of non rap genres. like light rock in the background and chorous and strong rap as the rest of the song

uh, rap is a blend of practically every genre



except todays mainstream, for the most part
