What do I need to do to lose weight?

Ok - please don't say "eat less". I'm married, work full time and have 3 small children. I have no extra time to go to the gym. I need to lose about 30 lbs. What can I do? Can you lose weight just by dieting? The most exercise I can do is perhaps some walking

You can lose weight by just dieting, of course you will lose it faster if you pair it with a work-out but since you say your schedule is tight you could start by just trying dieting. That's what I did and I have lost 15 pounds in 4 weeks (I am working to lose about 30 as well so 1/2 way there!). If you would like some more information, email me directly - I can help you get started on what I did.

In order to lose weight, you don't need exercises, but, sorry- to eat LESS. Exercises are only for toning, the real weight loss comes from cutting down on food, and, dear, with your schedule you can't do anything else, but go on a diet. Or, okay, let's don't =, indeed, say "eat less", even, let's say "eat more", but eat Mainly vegetables and fruit, and deffinitely forget the sweets. Removing the sweets is the only way you can lose weight without too much cutting your general food intake. Sweets give you unnecessary sugars which, with your daily routine, you can't burn to save your life. So, less sweets. Also, take what you eat a day. Divide all your usual meals into three and eat the three parts within 2-3 hours apart. You again eat the same amount, but in smaller portions, which HELPS a lot!!

You said don't say "eat less" -- however that is part of losing weight. You have to cut off at least 500 cals from your typical diet. Therefore, if you are eating around 2500 cals a day try eating 2000. It is mostly suggested to eat 1200-1500 cals for quick weight loss combined with exercise. And walking is good if you could get in 30 mins to an hour a day - or get a step meter and count 10,000 steps a day. But 30 pounds gone will not be quick - it could take months for some people.

how about taking the kids and husband out too?

what about swimming with the kids

what about walking with a baby jogger

    etc.

you need to think outside the box if you are serious. lazy thinking leads to lazy life which leads to fat, thats why you are where you are.

Sorry , you need to exercise to lose weight.Do you watch reality television or american idol or soap operas or figure skating ? if you do ,stop watching those silly shows and head to the gym for an hour instead! You need to lift weights an run outside. Not on eliptical machines or a treadmill , but outside. It burns fat the best.

Follow these rules for Weight loss.

The 7 Rules of Good Nutrition

Here’s my take on it. I call these principles, "The 7 Rules of Good Nutrition."

These aren’t the newest techniques from the latest cutting-edge plan. Rather, they are simple, time-tested, no nonsense habits that you need to get into when designing a good eating program.

    1. Eat every 2-3 hours, no matter what. You should eat between 5-8 meals per day.

    2. Eat complete (containing all the essential amino acids), lean protein with each meal.

    3. Eat fruits and/or vegetables with each food meal.

    4. Ensure that your carbohydrate intake comes from fruits and vegetables. Exception: workout and post-workout drinks and meals.

    5. Ensure that 25-35% of your energy intake comes from fat, with your fat intake split equally between saturates (e.g. animal fat), monounsaturates (e.g., olive oil), and polyunsaturates (e.g. flax oil, salmon oil).

    6. Drink only non-calorie containing beverages, the best choices being water and green tea.

    7. Eat mostly whole foods (except workout and post-workout drinks).
So what about calories, or macronutrient ratios, or any number of other things that I’ve covered in other articles? The short answer is that if you aren’t already practicing the above-mentioned habits, and by practicing them I mean putting them to use over 90% of the time (i.e., no more than 4 meals out of an average 42 meals per week violate any of those rules), everything else is pretty pointless.

If you are confused about fat and carbs and protein , put it this way:

    Ignore fat and calorie content.
Avoid special K and cereal. They all have an extremely high glycemic load and spike insulin, and in turn causes you to STORE fat instead of burning it. Don't be afraid of fat and saturated fat ,they are your friends and they don't cause heart disease (the saturated fat scares are merely for fear mongering and pharmaceutical and corn refiners profit,we have been eating animal fat for YEARS. The more fat you DON'T eat , the more fat you WON'T burn. Put it that way! Oh , and avoid transfats or products containing vegetable oil.Eat fruits (low glycemic index berries such as cherries,cran.blue.black etc) after a workout or when you wake up,not throughout the day as they are un-needed sugars.Lettuce is a nutritional flaw, and a potato isn't a vegetable, neither is corn.Eat kale, spinach, quinoa, cauliflower for veggies

if you have any questions or need a sample diet or routine , I will do it for FREE.Shoot me a private message or email ironbird87@yahoo.ca

What's my source ? My girlfriend and I lost 30 lbs of pure fat by ignoring calorie content ,skipping carbs, and lifting weights and running outside.,Not by doing aerobics and spin classes while eating special K and crystal light. (what most women try for weight loss , but end up gaining it all back.

drink lots of water, and eat regularly. don't starve yourself, because once you start eating again, you'll gain everything back, trust me.

eat lots of fruits and veggies, and if you eat bread, make sure it's whole grain. white bread is pretty fattening. you can also eat lean meats, like chicken breast.

skip out on sweets, candy, sugary foods, chips, ice cream, cake, and cookies.

if you feel hungry, but don't want to over eat, chew gum. it'll keep your mouth busy and it tricks yourself into thinking your eating.

cut out ALL soda! if you stop drinking soda, it helps you out a lot!
    and don't forget to exercise!

try walking, jogging, jump rope, dancing, bike riding and swimming. try exercising for 45-80 minutes a day.
    good luck!
