What are "twisties" as the term petains to motorcycles or motorcycle riding...?

What does the term "twisties" stand for? A motorcycle style or a type of riding?

Generally 'twisties' are mountain roads with lots of curves.

Some bikers (like me) LOVE this kind of riding, matching speed adn gear to a curve as it comes up, smoothly clutching, downshifting, decelerating, turning, accelerating and then upshifting. Shooting a twisty road properly is sort of like skiing, or even dancing.

Here in California we have a lot of roads that go through mountain canyons, so mountain riding is also sometimes called 'canyon carving'.
