What is a nubia? I saw the term used in a Laura Ingalls Wilder book and was wondering what it was?

it's a place not a thing. it's an ancient civilization that used to be above egypt. think like mesoptamia era.

It's been so long since I read those, I can't quite remember exactly what you're referring to. However, a "Nubian" is an antiquated reference to an African-American person. Nubia was sometimes used as a general reference to Africa.
