One superhero may be physically the strongest, but others may be more adaptable, more intelligent, faster, or more agile, thereby having more strength in their particular area. Therefore, the strongest superhero must be the one YOU admire most, because that's the one that has made the strongest impression on you. It's all subjective.

I think Superman -- I think because he usually always won -- with the exception of when he was killed - but I think he came back to life .. hmm ... he had all kinds of powers - but only one weakness.

Then the "hulk" .. got stronger as he became angier -- however - I don't remember if he had as many powers as Superman.

Ah, well this question may almost never be answered correctly since all of the superheroes we know were not made by the same person ( DC, Marvel )

As much as we all love the Man of Steel and Bruce Banner we really can't decide which one would win besides there are many amazing superheroes that could best these two. Take in account Shazam, Batman, Thor, Franklin Richards (Reed and Sue Richard's son), the Silver Surfer and the list of super powerful entities goes on. Even Goku from Dragonball would be an admirable opponent for any of these two.

Personally there are a few omnipotent individuals qualified to be the best superhero, my favorite is the Phoenix/ Jean Grey . With unlimited telekinetic potential this X-men is literally invincible, psionically manipulating matter.

Even if the Hulk has almost limitless physical strength and is resilient to psychic manipulation Jean Grey could have a shot at defeating the green hunk.

I don't think The Thing could do it, his mutation did grant him superhuman levels of stamina and strength but not as powerful as the Hulk's.

Thor is well, almost immortal although he needs the Golden Apples of Iddun to maintain this way and even though he's pretty awesome. He too, in my opinion, would not be victorious form all the supers.

Most well-known superheroes ( Superman, Batman, Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Cyclops, The Thing, etc) are well super powerful but there are some whose powers could overcome their abilities.

Take the Phoenix Force, grants unlimited power to the host. Scarlet Witch is also a force to be reckoned with, deeming almost all of the mutant population powerless on M-Day.

Franklin Richards, as well, is an Omega level mutant, and this without aide of the Phoenix Force. In terms of unrealized potential, Franklin was generally considered for years to be the most powerful mutant in the Marvel Universe,[4] surpassing even Charles Xavier and Magneto.

He could too be a mighty challenger for Superman, the Hulk or Batman with just imagining they were never born.

To wrap it up I think that we'll never really know which superhero is the most powerful, since there are many "most powerful mutants/superheroes" but just thinking about the fight is like amazing! that would be the greatest fight of them all.

I love how you ask the Q but lead everyone to believe that bulk strength is how we should be looking for the strongest superhero. The strongest superhero should be one that is the least affected by people, environment, other worldly/unworldly interferences. My choice is(ta-da)...The Shadow.
After all, he's super old but does he look his age?
He appears from shadows and low lighting, so is he man or ghost? He can be a physical(go ahead, kiss me, touch me)being and in the next moment, it is like he passes through time. He picks up his criminals and leaves his victims alive. He can kill, but usually tries to leave enforcement up to the Cops. He is rich and I imagine that leaves him to be self-sufficient. For his time period, the use of the ring brought him enormous numbers of employees(not being paid, but extremely loyal & grateful for a chance to repay a debt of gratitude)that came from all walks of life, mixing the rich with the poor and yet, they all worked together. In my opinion, that's one hell of a Superhero!! GuardDog

Well Hulk is the strongest but with batman's gadgets he could beat Hulk. In my opinion batman didn't have superpowers he made all the gadgets , so with those gadgets he could probably win. Otherwise, hulk.
Oh and here is a link to a website that says all the famous superheroes:
    http://comicbooks.about.com/od/character…
Spiderman would have to be my favorite though because he is average. Even Stan Lee said so himself. But I don't know if he could win.
And I'll admit I don't even know some of the superheroes so I am just going from the group of superheroes I know.
Actually now that I read your blog duplicate boy would kick every superhero there is.

Strongest is the Hulk. He yells it all the time. "Hulk is the Strongest there is".

It's hard to compare between DC and Marvel. The Crossovers are always poorly done. Some will say Superman is the strongest, others Hulk. Gotta go with Hulk though, it's his whole thing. Superman has lots of other powers, so it'd be weird if he was also stronger than a hero whose main power is strength.

Who would win is a battle royale? The smartest heroes have the best chance. Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Iron Man, or Batman. They're all smart enough to know that going toe-to-toe with the heavy hitters isn't going to work for them. They'd stay out of the fight, and wait to see who was the most likely to survive. They'd build a strategy (or equipment) to take out the last few brawlers.

Really no answer to this. The Hulk gets stronger and stronger the angrier he gets. He has held a planet together in planet hulk. Yet no matter how strong he is there are psychic powers that could destroy or at least tame him. Xavier could do funny things to the hulks "puny" mind.

You could look to the Silver Surfer. He has cosmic powers that are pretty much only his creator and the Phoenix can hurt. People like Superman are no match for the surfer because the Surfer could just turn Superman's costume in to kyptonite. Plus Batman beat Superman just using a Kyptonite ring :/

In truth not many of the DC characters could hold there own in this match. Superman has been proven to be weak against magic because he is still a natural entity and magic and cosmic power supersedes that by far.

Really this battle comes down to two people in my mind. Dr. Strange and the Silver Surfer. The magic of Strange is far to great for the other heroes such as batman, superman, Spiderman and any of the X men. The same goes for The Surfer. As far as I know there has never been a battle between cosmic power and mystical power in any of the comic books.

We could throw in Thor in the mix and have quite a battle but Thor as well has some glaring weaknesses being half human and all.

My thought is the Surfer will take this as he has shown he will do what is necessary to get the “W”. Whereas Dr. Strange tends to let to much emotion get in the way and will never truly end a fight if a life is at stake. It is noble but in this case it would be the end of him against the Surfer.

Superman has the most rounded powers. Flight, super strength, heat vision, x-ray vision, ice breath and super speed. What more could you want from a Superhero? How about the leader of a team of Superheroes? Oh, wait a second. He is... Justice League anyone? Sure he may share the board of directors (as I call them) with Batman, Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter to name a few. But the argument goes can Xavier penetrate Kal'el's mind? After all he is an alien and maybe that just might be a good enough reason to put him as the strongest Superhero... What? Doomsday?
Sure Doomsday killed Superman. But seriously after a fight going on for that long, it could have went either way. But DC needed to kill Superman in order to renew him. In my opinion, Marvel should have done the same to Spider-Man instead of just creating "Ultimate Spider-Man".
But as it stands, I still have to say Superman is the strongest Superhero. But there is still speculation on whether Xavier could take out Superman with lifting a finger. I personally would put Professor Charles Xavier at #2 on this list if I had to make one.

I understand that when the Hulk gets mad he gets stronger, but still, comics and movies have never really shown superman's true strength. Most of the time he is always holding back most of his strength to fight because his true strength is far too powerful. lets look at it this way. if the hulk had to use two hands in the first Hulk movie to rip off a tank cannon what makes people think he can compare to Superman. Superman lifted up a motor tractor on a farm when he was only 2 years old with ONE HAND!! The Hulk can get knocked down the street with a blast from cannon fire, but Superman will just stand there and the missile will just blow up on him and wont even stratch him. If Superman can lift up an entire Rock island with no effort on the "Superman Returns" movie, thats pure strength. The Hulk can not compare wit Superman. Now the Hulk may give Superman a run for his money, but wit the combined Strength and powers of Superman, the Hulk has no chance. Read the comic books for both Superheros, clearly Superman is the dominate one.

I have faith in Superman, Son of Jerel, who defeated General Zod, Ursa and Non in 'Superman II'. Each of these criminals possessed equal powers to his own, and in the end the Man of Steel triumphed by de-powering them by means of trickery.

Physical strength alone, I have no idea, we also have to consider mental skills.

    "Kneel before Zod". lol

well, I would've said my wife. until I saw you have limited choices.

Perhaps nobody would win, because they all have warranty against losing no matter how difficult is their opponents, nobody will lose or win in this case. but the brawl will continue for gazillion parts until the audience will get bored.

Superman is a conclusive study of a man that has a strong sense of all things and yet Hulk is an uncontrolled source of that but even though hulk is uncontrollable he is still large and he is very strong. i would have to say hulk would win this brawl.

Superman. Read the Steranko History of Comics for background on him.

In point of fact, as was pointed out here recently, he did fight Thor once and (barely) beat him. The only character I can imagine being stronger is Shazam! / Captain Marvel. But I doubt he is. Superman.

Hulk, because he's very strong. Doesn't have any weaknesses and if you make him angry he'll just get stronger.
I wouldn't say superman because if you bring cryptonite (I don't know how to spell it) into the fight he's sure to lose.

I am tempted to say that the Hulk is the strongest as in brute strength. However, (while I don't know much about him) he seems to fight rather recklessly. This leads me to conclude Superman is the strongest.

In my opinion Hanuman is the strongest. As the story goes he carried mountain Dronagiri to Lanka since he could not find the herb required to revive Laxman. I do not know if anybody else has done such a enormous task.
