Has anyone read the book "Against nature" by J-K Huysmans?

basically I got an extract from this book which I have to analyse, but I have never read the book and dont have time to read it so I dont understand the extract. So it would be really helpful if anyone could give me a quick summary about the book and author :)

I have no idea, but if you have gotten the A2 English Language and Lit (Specification B)pre release material, I'd recomend SparkNotes for the first piece of text from Paradise Lost. Hoever, I'm not sure what they mean about bried notes.
