What happens when the ossicles of the middle ear begin to fuse together?

Ossicles ... AKA incus, stapes, and malleus ... AKA ear bones that allow hearing.

Just from looking it up it appears that fusion of these bones will result in progressive hearing loss.

It seems that treatment is available.
