Does something she says refer to a fairy tale? Or was this simply a set-up for a sequel? Like when she says that their lives were interrupted...

When that show ended, I seriously thought a sequel or another season would come out.

But the network didn't put money into it.

I'm pretty sure that another season would have continued if more people watched it and the ratings had shot up.
