Not in my experience. I mean, she's ten years older than me. That would mean that she probably went there in the late 1970s. Was it sexist then? Quite possibly. But time moves on. Even the youngest of her tutors will be at or close to retirement age, and the older ones will all be dead.
Yeah, it's elitist. It takes the best academically regardless of money or family or background, and there's nothing anyone can do about it. That upsets a lot of people who don't get in, I'm afraid.

I also went to Oxford from a state school. It wasn't sexist in the late 1980s, I see no reason why it would have reverted in 2009.

- Hmmm I'm not sure I'd agree with the "regardless of money or family or background" bit - the % of comprehensive school students is much lower at Oxford than at other leading UK unis
