Is Flannery O'Connor considered part of the "Silent Generation?"?

I'm doing research on Flannery O'Conner for a paper I need to write, and I'm unable to find how she and her work, "The Life You Save May Be Your Own," relates historically to the social aspects of American life. Things I want to adress are how her style reflects some Postmodernistic touches, but I can't seem to find any examples of social events that influence her writings. Any sources, examples, ect. would be welcome.

This link will take you to a web page that tells you how she grew up and where. It also tells you what was going on in the world, but more importantly, what was going on in her world, that influenced her writing.
