What's the big deal about Laura Ingalls Wilder?

I mean, she has a large trilogy, but that alone shouldn't do it. The books themselves are children's books that are largely unoriginal. The plots of the books aren't that great, and much of the plots are completely fabricated. What gives?

For the most part, those books tell her life story. And they are pretty orginal--at least they aren't stories about vampires, or teenage girls who want to be "popular" or something else that is completely cliche.

The books were also written in the '60s--a different time. What's the big deal about The Brady Bunch or Star Trek--two popular shows that weren't actually all that popular in their day, but [especially Star Trek] are pretty well-known now.
