Why are desert plants able to collect store and save water?

    Xerophytes, plants in the desert, have no leaves, reducing transpiration(ex. Cacti). Phreatophytes grow long long roots that absorb small traces of water over extended distances(ex. Creosotes). Desert plants fundamentally use water at an extremely slow rate, so that they will have plenty in storage for until the next flood and rain, etc.
