How do I improve the last sentence to my essay?

Therefore, the poem upholds individualism over conformity, showing that society should accept people as they are.
If it helps, here is the first sentence to my essay:
Analysis of Allen Ginsberg’s “Howl” reveals the poet’s celebration of the nonconformist counterculture shunned by conservative society.

"Analysis of Ginsberg's "Howl" reveals the poet's celebration of a nonconformist counterculture, often shunned by a conservative society." I know u didn't ask for that but I couldn't help it, that's how I would write it. In your last sentence, I would eliminate "therefore".
"This poem (advocates, champions, defends) the idea that individualism is better than conformity, and it asks society to accept people as they are."
That's how I would arrange it, Good Luck!

If the poem upholds individualism over conformity, how can it show that society should accept people as they are. If society accepts them, then they are conforming to the boundaries of society. That, or we have a society full of non conformists and that would be no society at all.

Instead, the poem points out that individuals must deal with the realities of society, conformity being one of them. Society is a cruel master and beats down the free spirit, still it must be dealt with. Through that dealing both society and the individual will hopefully come to a balance. Individualism is not upheld in the poem. Instead it is beaten down and made to be submissive, with a hope of having a better outcome in the future.

Just another opinion. You can say it supports individualism if you like.
