I can't really analyze the poem paragraph by para.
My Analysis of "Bluebird" by Charles Bukowski

What is the structure of the poem?
It’s told in first-person, each stanza starts with the same line.

What are some key words/patterns you notice as you scan/skim the poem?
“There’s a bluebird in my heart that wants to get out”

New vocabulary words and definitions?
pact (noun) – a formal agreement between individuals or parties.

What is happening in this poem? Answer with as many verbs as you can.
The bluebird wants to get out but the narrator is too tough, pours whiskey on him an inhales cigarette smoke, only lets him out at night sometimes, but puts him back in, can make a man weep but the narrator doesn’t weep.

Who is the Persona? What is his/her attitude?
The persona is the narrator of the poem. The bluebird represents his private agenda, which he does not reveal to others. He admires the bluebird but would rather keep the bird to himself.

What are the dominant images in the poem? What emotions do the images bring to mind?
Dominant images are the whiskey and cigarettes, which represent the sadness and depression which keep the bluebird from coming out, and singing which represents his happiness when the bluebird is out.

What is the poet’s (not the persona’s) attitude towards his or her subject?
I think that the poet feels that even though he’s dealing with a hard life, he has hope that he’ll let his emotions and happiness come out of him but also fear of what people might think of him because of that.

How does the author’s diction and use of poetic devices convey his or
her attitude?
The first line of each stanza is not capitalized and there is repetition in that the first line of each stanza is the same.

Overall:
Bukowski uses the bluebird as a simple metaphor for his fears and weaknesses. He uses repetition to develop rhythm, repeating the first two lines at the beginning of each stanza: “there’s a bluebird in my heart that/wants to get out.” He also chooses not to capitalize any letters except in Europe and I. This is common throughout his poetry. Bukowski also has a way of writing his thoughts as if they were actual dialogue: “you want to screw up the works?” And even on such an emotional subject, he still succeeds in throwing in some humor, asking the bluebird, “you want to blow my book sales in Europe ?”

I know it's a lot
hope i helped! good luck
