there is always that space there
just before they get to us
that space
that fine relaxer
the breather
while say
flopping on a bed
thinking of nothing
or say
pouring a glass of water from the
spigot
while entranced by
nothing

that
gentle pure
space

it's worth

centuries of
existence

say

just to scratch your neck
while looking out the window at
a bare branch

that space
there
before they get to us
ensures
that
when they do
they won't
get it all

Oh My Gosh! I've never read this one. As someone who LOVES my space, this is a new favorite. I have never thought of those moments like that but should have. I love that little smidgen of time that belongs to nothing and no one.

That's so true.
As long as we have that space of nothingness where we OWN the moment of our existence with no obligations or expectations burdening us, where we exist just to BE, with no strings attached....then, yes, as long as we know those moments, "they" won't get it all.

I wanted so badly to write about that very subject but couldn't. I tried today ... wow.
That space. Like when I just sit in my car, all is silent, the car isn't humming yet, no radio, sound is shut out ... breathe ... start the car and become prey again.
