I had gone out with some friends to a local bar for some drinks and when I came home that evening to my little 1 bdrm. apt. I heard the news that she had died.... I wasn't anywhere important or shocking I just remember seeing it in the news....

I was playing cards with my son and his wife at home. We were playing Hearts when it came on and I kept saying...OH MY GOD...OH MY GOD......

My husband who is really a very sensitive and gentle man shocked me with saying.....Why are you so upset...you didn't know her?

I just looked at him and said...I liked her...she has young children..this is horrible.!

he asked if I would feel that way if it was the Queen and I said...probably not...but this was so sad.

I don't know why I reacted so strongly...but it was like one of those moments in time when you will forever remember it exactly...like Pearl Harbor (although I wasn't born then...) Kennedy's Assassination....9/11 etc. (which I WAS around for)

somethings just affect you and sometimes it surprises you how strongly.

Camping on a beach in Australia heard it on the radio and was shocked all my other half was worried about was that he had just broken his fishing rod and told him a good place to put it would be where the sun don't shine.

I was at work trying to finish a large project for the next day and the only thing on the radio was Diana's death by the end of the day I was sick to death of the story. If she had worn a seat belt she would be here today.

I couldn't sleep so I switched on the telly and the news was on. The broadcaster was saying that there had been an accident in Paris and that Dodi was dead and that Diana was being treated for injuries in hospital. Then they showed the mangled Mercedes and I remember thinking, "She is lucky to have got out of that mess alive!". Then the news came that she had died and I was devastated. RIP Diana she was my favourite Royal.
Oh yes and I was in bed when it happened. Understandably I didn't sleep for the rest of the night.

Sitting in my living room, glued to the TV. The first reports came on just before I would have gone to bed...I stayed up for the updates. I think she finally lost the battle at about 4:00 AM my time.

I was in Cape May, NJ and saw it reported on TV around 11pm. The next day, the people around me didn't really know who she really was!!

I was living in Lakeland, Florida. I had driven to Tampa and back to mail a letter at the airport post office (because they took mail until midnight). I got home around 10:30 p.m., and happened to turn on the television. It was about 4:30 a.m. in Paris, and they were announcing on the television.

We had just gotten our computer. I had tucked my daughter to bed and was figuring it out with my back to the TV. I turned around and saw the ticker running beneath the screen on the TV, saying there had been a terrible accident and Dodi was dead, and Diana was being rushed to the hospital where she would be okay. Then a little later, they came on with the doctors and made the announcement that she too was gone. I was simply floored. I cried. Her children, her short life, her beautiful face now silent with death. It was totally unbelieveable and I hoped it was a joke, but it was true.

I was a child-I mean, really young. Only about 5. So I don't really recall. All I remember vaguely was her funeral. My family was crying so I was too.
