Well, I can imagine there might be a way to make boats that could float on the surface--actually on carbon vapor near the surface, and it would be reasonably simple to make a cyclotron with particles highly accelerated just above the boat to equalize gravitational to somewhere near earth normal G. but learning to draw power directly from the sun would be a neat trick, as would radiation shielding. If we did bring that off, then beaning power directly to Earth (and possibly other colonies) would be a better use for sessile boats than forming colonies on the sun.

I hope Obama goes to live there. Why don't we do the cheaper alternative and but colonies in the outback of Australia. It's closer to home, MUCH cheaper, less hostile environment, and at least there is oxygen there.
