If you are flying to Sabiha Gokcen Airport, it is on the Anatolian side of the city. You will need to use local bus service. If you are flying to Ataturk Int. Airport, then you have more options.
1. The subway, which is around a dollar.
2. Havas (pronounced Khavash) shuttle bus services, which cost about 10TLiras (about 6 dollars)
3. Yellow taxi cabs. They all have a taxi-meter and it will cost around 30 TLiras to get to Taksim (the city center).
At the present rate 1USDollar= 1.70 Turkish Liras

There are 2 airports in Istanbul. If you are talking about Ataturk Airport, you can use the subway or take a shuttle, or take a taxi. Taxi would probably be the most expensive option.

If you are talking about Sabiha Gokcen, then public transportation is the best.

if you want to go from Sabiha Gokcen airport use the public bus number E-10 to go downtown in Anatolia side, E-3 to go downtown in Europe , use 96 T to go Taksim square when you are landed in Ataturk airport each of them cost 3 turkish liras

Take subway for 1.50 Tl it is under the airport and goes through the down town.

you can get on subway in airport.but last station is aksaray.if you stay taksim(square).you must take a taxi.it might be 30-35 TL.(20 dollars)
