How can i get rid of black knees and elbows?

i have black knees and elbows and i moisturize and exfoliate but it doesnt work. people say its because kneeling on them makes them black? how can i get rid of them? and what causes them to be black?

Lemon juice applied pure and undiluted works...do it every night by soaking a flannel in the juice of a lemon and rubbing it in...or simply use the cut sides of a fresh lemon...it is a natural whitener.

How long have you had it could it be a birth mark or something like that???
