Have you read 'the god of small things' by Arundhati Roy?

Do you know novels that are similar to it? I need to write a comparison and I would like to know what novels I could possibly compare this novel to..

Thanks in advance!

You could try a comparison with "One hundred years of solitude" by G. G. Marquez for the so called "magic realism" that they share and for the fact that they both have revealed 2 areas of the world quite hidden till that moment: Colombia and Kerala.
You could also try a comparison with "Oliver Twist" by C. Dickens, coz both the books show the point of view of children on adult life and talk about poverty. So you could also do a historical comparison between the Engalnd of the 19th century and the India of nowday. Both in the middle of an economical and social revoltuion destined to change the face of both the countries.
