I blew my nose and I had like bright yellow mucous...It's gross...?

Haha this is not a joke, I know it sounds sort of gross and weird, but I was sitting down and I felt as though my nose was starting to bleed, but when I wiped it with a tissue it was sort of a very watery bright yellow color. So then I went to blow my nose and it was bright yellow mucous...

Does anyone know why it's bright yellow? Do I have some sort of sinus infection or something?

Is it contagious?
I have a daughter so I don't want to pass it on to her.

And of course some smartasses are making a mockary...

Yes. Yellow or green means infection. Try Mucinex D. Ibuprofin will help with swelling/pain. Tylenol allergy sinus is good. If it gets worse--head, face, ears or teeth hurting, go to a doctor. You have sinuses under your eyes which if swelling will make your face hurt. They will prescribe an antibiotic and tell you to use Mucinex D. I have had a sinus infection for 2 weeks. Would get better & worse off and on. I am on my 2nd antibiotic.

Oh for gawds sake, don't listen to some of these answers, crikey!! Ibuprofen this, and antiphistarine that, no way!! Go to your local pharmacy, buy some calcium ascorbate powder.
Powerful stuff. No worries to use this stuff,
EXCEPT:don't use more than about 1/4 to 1/2 a teaspoon per day until you gain some experience, simply mixed into fruit juice. An initial "booster" dose of 1/2 a teaspoon is ok, but only if your stools are firm...
Use more and you wont need an enema, it really loosens you up.
*(this can be handy, once you learn how to use the powder, for constipation)
This will clear up you sinus infection, prevent flu, and accelerate healing of wounds etc.

See A doctor or pharmacist and you should just use your common sence, use kleenex and just dont sneeze directly on anyone obviously, dont worry unless you get A headache or other type pain then see A Doctor
