How can I become an actress?

Hi, I wanted to know what does one have to do to become an actress. Hi am 22 year old female and I do not go to school and I do not work right now. My dream goal in life has always been to be an actress ever since I was little. I really need to know what I need to do and what are the steps I need to take in order to become an actress. Please I need help I don't know where to go or what to do. For example I want to be an actress something in similar like: Kate Winslet, Keira Knightley, Judy Dench, Debra Messing, Nicole Kidman, Woopie Goldberg, Angelina Jolie, Natalie Portman, etc. Please help. Thank you.

Well, first thing you need to do is learn to act. If you want to act in movies, you will have to move to Los Angeles, and then try to work your way into the business alongside the thousands of other women your age all trying to hit the big time.

Basically, to make it in movies you need three things. You need striking looks that get people's interests. (Not necessarily being drop dead gorgeous, but something memorable.) You need to have talent. And you need perseverance, as there are tons of women who all want to be actresses and all competing for the same roles.

It's not very likely that you'll make it. You will likely get a job as a waitress and possibly do a commercial or two, and that will be the extent of your career. If you can be happy doing anything other than acting, do so. But if that's your dream, if that's the one thing that will make you happy, go for it.

Take some acting classes at a local community college first, just so that you get some experience under your belt. Try to be in a local production or two. Theatre is a good way to at least learn if you have the basics. If you can't get cast in a community theatre production, you stand no chance in Hollywood. If you've got what it takes, then make the move to LA and look for work there.

Becoming an Actress
Find every opportunity in your traveling distance that does Plays or Musicals. Check the schools and community groups as well as professional. Contact them and ask to be notified of any auditions.
If you do not get a part, offer to help in any way (paint scenery, usher etc.) Just being around the production you will learn a lot.
Study Dance, Music and Acting. You must be able to do at least one great and the others well enough to let the others work around you. Find classes or instructors that have produced talent.
Work on your image. You have to be a go getter, with lots of confidence and at the same time come across as humble.
Develop work ethics. Never be late. Never be absent. Always be attentive. Always show respect for others, even when you do not think they deserve it.
If and when approached by a talent agent or agency. Check them out carefully. Agents
They do not look at your picture and resume and go out and try to find you a job.
You should give them enough information about your skills and decent photos of you.
Almost all agents know where to find out about casting for theater and movies.
When these castings are announced they look through their files to see who might have a chance. If you appear to have a chance they will notify you.
Until you have found work several times they are not going to go out and try to sell you to a producer.
