I think it is the fashion these senior guys were accustomed to during their younger days era which is carried forward to their present dressing sense. Jessica Simpson wore her pants really high up too recently during a concert. It is definitely a statement of fashion in her case.

As men get older they lose their muscle tone in their rump. Their pants do not sit there without falling down anymore. They pull them up to where the mid section is a bit wider.

I've noticed that too. I think their pants are a size too large and they cinch them up high with a belt. Some men seem to shrink as they age and hate to go buy new clothes.

This has been asked before and I have to say I have never seen these seniors or elderly guys myself, except on a comedy show on TV so beats me, I personally dont believe they really exist.

Some may do it to cover up their larger stomachs and some who wear suspenders do this. At least it is better than showing off the crack of your rear end as the younger ones do!

it's usually due to weight loss ,and a good pair of trousers are not about to be wasted (no pun intended !) .
and a preference not to show a thong and crack .

As they age, many men get big bellies. Once their bellies get bigger than their butts, it's either ride the butt below the belly, which looks pretty stupid or ride the belly, which looks pretty stupid too. The alternative is to lose the belly which isn't always so easy. Besides, most men by the time they get to that age don't care anyway so whether they ride em low or ride em high is just a matter of preference and comfort.

I think they want to feel secure and those of a certain age did wear their pants higher when they were younger and they may never have worn them any other way.
I did see a man yesterday who had his pants alarmingly high. I wondered about it too but I would never ask. ( I mentioned it to my girlfriend and she had no answer either.) But, since I'm in a group with this man, I have noticed he is a bit inflexible at these meetings but I thought it was because his shorts were a little too tight in the seat.

Older men feel that the pants are sliding down if they don't wear them higher. Some older men wear suspenders attached to the waistband of their pants, hidden by their shirts. Keeps 'em pulled up high.

I have no idea why. The next time you see a Senior Citizen with his pants hiked up, ask him why he wears them like that. If he has a cane with him, step back after asking him such a question. He may have taken "Cane Defense" classes.

Funny you should ask. I still have the same waist size I had 20 years ago. I just wear my pants about six inches lower.

Some men wear a truss or have unrepairable ruptures that a belt would irritate -- There's other surgery that makes wearing trousers at waist level very uncomfortable.

The reason I do is I am still wearing my mother's slacks.
Also, the slacks I buy are either too long or just a little too short. When I shorten the long ones, I screw up.

I hate wearing the too short ones.

I cant speak for all men and I don't wear my pants there yet. However, I am fairly short so all my pants look like "gangsta" clothes and all of them have to be shortened. If I pulled them up to keep them off the ground, I'd be eating through my zipper.

There is also a problem that gravity has when you get older. Sometimes the bell clapper hangs below the bell and having the pants up high is something of a relief, I imagine. Maybe " Moose knuckle" isn't fun to look at but it is worse to have them "out there on their own".
